Dominican Tour
Do you want to live an authentic experience during your vacation? Would you like to know the culture, lifestyle, idiosyncrasies, language and customs of the Dominican people? Does sharing a good time with the locals sound appealing to you? Then the Dominican Tour is designed for you.
We pick you up at the hotel in the morning and take a bus ride through the heart of Bavaro where you’ll be able to see how the Dominicans really live. It is nothing like the luxury life that you see at the resorts. This is the real deal.
Then we’ll make a stop at the Chocolate Museum where you’ll learn about the history of cocoa and the process of elaboration of the different types of chocolates and cocoa derivatives. A tasting of several products (i.e. chocolate varieties, cocoa tea, liquors, etc.) is included in this visit!
At noon we go to the beautiful beach of Macao where you’ll enjoy a refreshing swim, followed by a delicious Dominican lunch prepared in a traditional firewood stove. Lunch with the local catch of the day, ensuring the freshest fish and seafood on the island!
In the afternoon we’ll make our way to the Dominican countryside where we’ll be able to visit Dominican families and children in a nearby village. The locals in the village are familiar with us as they oftentimes receive donations of clothes, school supplies, etc. from us. During our visit, we will also be invited to have a coffee with one of the families.
To wrap up the tour, we’ll head to a “colmado” and car wash where we can dance salsa, bachata and merengue, typical Dominican dances. For those not into the dancing scene, observing and enjoying this authentic Dominican atmosphere is more than welcome!
As on all our tours, and in order to keep things always interesting, we’ll keep some surprises for our guests!
This tours runs on Sundays and costs USD 70 per adult. Children under 12 have a 50% discount and children 0-3 years old have a complimentary entrance. Please note meals are not included on the day trip, but food in local environments in Dominican Republic is inexpensive.
